Nessebar, Bulgaria

Cruise excursions

JEWISH HERITAGE, BULGARIAN HOSPITALITY & UNESCO SIGHTS

Private tour 6 HOURS

Take a drive along the Southern coast to reach city of Burgas. Walk in the pedestrian area and see the former synagogue. It is not functioning anymore and is now housing the local Art gallery. Nevertheless one can still admire the beautiful architectural style of the building, which will soon celebrate 100-years from its construction. Spend some time at your own pace.

Cuddled in the Southern slopes of Balkan Mountain Chateau Medovo awaits you for a delicious lunch. You are welcomed in a venue, representing the typical rustic atmosphere of 17-18th century. Dip in this unique atmosphere while enjoing lunch. Then head for a stroll along the “craftsman street”, where skilful Bulgarian craftsmen still follow the medieval tradition in producing pottery, silverware, woodcarvings, copper pots, traditional sweets and yogurt.

On your way back take a guided walk along the cobbled streets od old town of Nessebar. You will visit the Archeological museum and the remains of several churches including visit of St. Stefan – restored and enlarged several times the so-called New Bishop's Residence and church of the Blessed Savior (St.Spas), built in the 17th c. a time when Nessebar was under Ottoman rule.

A refreshment stop in one of the cozy restaurants with a wonderful sea view will recharge you to further continue with exploring Nessebar's gems.

The architecture of the ancient Nessebar impresses as well - the limited space did not allow the construction of big houses with large courtyards as in other parts of Bulgaria. The ground floor is built of undressed stone and is usually used for storage. The upper floor, built of wood, projects over the narrow street to gain space. The vine-arbours and the fig trees in the small courtyards complete the romantic atmosphere of the town. The old Nessebar houses make the place unforgettable.
