A Luxury Sojourn in the Mediterranean

In the winter of 2003/2004, Chosen Voyage stood the world of kosher travel on its head. Hundreds of guests delighted to the unique luxury of the world's only all-kosher cruise, and over 100 periodicals from Newsweek to Jewsweek have featured articles on our programs.
Now, for the 2005 sailing season Chosen Voyage introduces a new set of sailings that offer unique itineraries; luxurious, personal service on smaller, upscale ships; and the true luxury that comes with choice.
Possibly the most unique in all our announcements -the program you've all been waiting for-I am pleased to present what may be the most incredible Passover ever experienced-Pesach at Sea on the beautiful Mediterranean.
This 11 day/10 night program offers you and your family the best of all worlds: The elegant 220 passenger Le Diamant, outstanding cuisine, an unparalleled itinerary, engaging learning and entertainment, children's programming, a high staff-to guest ratio and much more.
The first Seder in 2005 occurs on Saturday night, April 23rd. We've created an exciting itinerary to harmonize with the Yom Tov and Shabbat schedule, as well as take advantage of the full Chol Hamoed for touring.

Friday, April 22 - Nice, France
Nice is the gateway to the glamorous Côte d'Azur. Situated between Monte Carlo and Cannes, and just 18 miles from the Italian border, the city stretches along the Baie des Anges (Bay of Angels), where the Alps meets the sea.
The port and the old town (perched on a hill known as Le Château) are in the city's southeast. The modern city stretches north and west of the central square, Place Masséna, behind the famous Promenade des Anglais. The promenade follows the crescent-shaped shoreline westwards from the port.
Le Diamant will be docked just steps from the Promenade des Anglais and all sightseeing and shopping opportunities, as well as the famed beaches are easily reached on foot.
On Friday, guest boarding will begin in the morning. Join us for a complimentary excursion to Monte Carlo.
Shabbat, April 23 - Nice, France
Following Shabbat services on board, and you'll enjoy a lavish buffet lunch. After lunch, a walking tour of the Jewish sites of Nice follows, as well as an interactive discussion with representatives of the local community. Children's programs will be available.
After Shabbat, you'll sit down with your family to an unforgettable seder. Private seder options are available on a limited basis.
Sunday, April 24 - Nice, France - Yom Tov 1
Shacharit, lunch, and more exploring are the order of the day. This afternoon, enjoy a stimulating shiur, or a nap out on deck. Mincha, maariv, and an inspirational and delicious second seder with your loved ones awaits.
Monday, April 25, Nice, France - Yom Tov 2
After lunch, join our complimentary walking tour of the Musée National Biblique Marc-Chagall. The museum houses the largest collection of Chagall works in the world.
After Havdalah, we set sail for Italy. A kumzitz under the stars, anyone?
Tuesday, April 26 - Livorno, Italy (for Florence and Siena) - Chol Hamoed 1
Early this morning, we dock in Livorno, gateway to Tuscany. Sign up for a full-day excursion to see the beautiful synagogues and museums of Florence and Siena - with your elegant lunch buffet following you! A short stop in Pisa for a photo of you holding up the Leaning Tower, and we're back on board this evening for an elegant dinner and exciting entertainment.
Wednesday, April 27 - Civitavecchia, Italy (for Rome)
We dock at Civitavecchia this morning. An hour or so by coach will bring you to Rome, Italy's astonishingly beautiful capital. A special tour of the Great Synagogue and a presentation from the Jewish community are on tap, as well as opportunities for sightseeing, museum hopping, and shopping. Your lunch buffet travels with you.
Thursday, April 28 - Naples, Italy
Naples is nestled in a splendid bay dominated by Mount Vesuvius. The historic town center is easily explored on foot. Naples historic synagogue, built in 1864 with the assistance of the Rothschilds, is a must-see. After lunch, excursions to the nearby excavations of Pompeii will be available.
Friday, April 29 - Taormina, Sicily
Taormina dates back to 4th century B.C.E. It hugs the edge of a cliff overlooking the Ionian Sea. Looming in the background is Mount Etna, an active volcano. With its mild climate and intact medieval character this is the most beautiful town in all of Sicily. It's filled with intimate piazzas and palazzi dating from the 15th to the 19th century, and countless stores sell everything from fine antiques to quaint souvenirs. Many nearby adventures beckon: climbing Mount Etna, walking to the Castelmola, or an excursion to the Roman ruins at Syracuse.
This afternoon, we'll set sail for two glorious days of Yom Tov at sea.
Shabbat, April 30 - At Sea
An inspiring Shacharit service, and then dine at an al fresco lunch as we sail up the Amalfi Coast past Capri. Shiurim and children's programs provide Shabbat ruach. This evening, a special lecture on the Jewish communities in the region follows an epicurean Yom Tov meal.
Sunday, May 1 - At Sea
The last day of Passover - all too quickly! Enjoy the natural beauty as we sail up the Italian coast past Monaco. Spend the day with friends old and new, as we prepare to say goodbye. A grand farewell gala on deck tonight after Havdalah.
Tuesday, May 2 - Nice, France
We disembark this morning. The airport is close by (maybe there's time for a little more shopping?). You've just had the Pesach experience that cannot be matched -there's nothing like being Chosen.
The Ship
Le Diamant was, until recently, the much acclaimed and beloved Radisson Seven Seas Song of Flower. A perennial favorite of experienced cruisers, this elegant ship was acquired by her new owners in 2004 and is fresh from a €15 million Euro refit that both created a beautiful new interior and installed new, vibration-free engines.
Le Diamant is 410 feet long, is fully stabilized, and has a premium staff to guest ratio– over 150 staff for just 220 guests.
Le Diamant offers 113 all ocean-view cabins. Guest accommodations include oversized Category D staterooms at 185 square feet, Category A, B and C cabins at 200 square feet, Grand Suites, perfect for families at 400 square feet with accommodations for up to four, and Balcony Suites, at 325 square feet with a private balcony.
All cabins offer a choice of queen or twin beds, spacious storage, flat-screen TV/VCR, stereo, refrigerator, personal bathrobes and high-quality linens. Spacious bathrooms include premium toiletries; many offer a shower/tub or full bathtub. Electricity is 220 volts.
The ship boasts two beautiful restaurants – the elegant Iles de France, open for dinner and offering a meat menu (fish and vegetarian options are always available); and the dairy L'Escapade. Lavish breakfast and lunch buffets are available in the outdoor Café on the Sun Deck. As always, our menus are created by and prepared by the ship's staff, ensuring the highest possible quality and selection. Red and white wines, carefully selected to match your entrée, are complimentary with dinner. In addition, please feel free to enjoy our unique room service 24 hours a day, plus afternoon tea, cocktails and canapés, and much more!
Le Diamant offers a number of spaces for private Seders.
The ship has a large indoor theatre that serves as a shul and concert hall, and several bars and lounges. The ship's Library offers complimentary books and videos on loan. A hair salon and casino are available during the week.
Lots of open deck space optimizes your days in the sun. A swimming pool (separate swimming hours will be available), fitness center, and a sauna fill out the sports facilities.
Deck plans are attached as a separate document.
We will be joined on this program by our Rabbi in Residence who is an excellent and thought-provoking speaker. Join us for daily shiurim as well as Shabbat and Yom Tov classes and drashot.
Let us entertain you! With headline performers aboard, several concerts will take place throughout the week. Special children's programming will be available on Shabbat and Yom Tov, as well as roving babysitters.
