After visiting Nefutzot Yehuda Synagogue we will continue on foot along Gibraltar’s main shopping street- Main Street – and will head to Sha’ar HaShamaim Synagogue (Gibraltar’s oldest). From there we would walk to Gibraltar’s main square- Casemates Square, passing by the Parliament building, City Hall and the Abudraham’s Synagogue on our way. Casemates Square would be the end point of our tour, allowing your group free time for shopping or eating (there are 2 kosher restaurants). Throughout the tour the group will hear stories about the origins of the Gibraltar Jewish community and its development along the centuries to current days. We may also be able to arrange (depending on availability) for key people from the community (such as Chief Rabbi) to meet up along the route and say a few welcoming words.
Tours last approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.
Optional additions: dolphin trips in the Bay of Gibraltar (May to October only);
Guided walk through the Great Siege Tunnels.
Can also accompany Sephardic heritage tours in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
