Buenos Aires full day tour
This Buenos Aires tour will be focused on visiting Jewish sites in the city.
Depart to Once area; this is the neighborhood that concentrates the majority of Jewish institutions in Buenos Aires, like Hebraica JCC, many synagogues, Jewish theatres, schools as well as Rabbinical Seminaries. Driving through the Meashearim of Bam where the orthodox are living, and stop at the side of the bombing of the AMIA in
1994.
Guided tour at AMIA will be included, Amia`s goal is contribute to strengthen educational environments to guarantee continuity and reflect the diversity of the Jewish – Argentine community. This institution has different actions leading to dignified quality of life for Jewish individuals and families throughout the country, especially those at social risk. AMIA has deep ties with Israel and other Jewish worldwide communities, they also encourage the observance of Jewish traditions and cultural heritage.
AMIA guided tour lasts about 1 hour and includes visit of the Dry Park at Pasteur street where the Memorial devoted to the 89 victims of the attempt built by Iaacov Agam can be seen, art exhibition, Jewish history with images, ending with an audio visual.
We will also include stop and visit of Libertad Sinagoge and Jewish Museum. The Jewish Museum is committed to pass on the Argentine Jewish culture to the entire society.
The tour lasts, approximately, 40 min and includes the entry into the Israeli Congregation’ Synagogue in Argentina (CIRA) well known as Libertad Synagogue, the first synagogue in Argentina, which was founded in 1862 and was declared Historical National Monument in 2000.
During the tour guests will have the chance to board our local subway for a short ride.
Inaugurated in December 1913, Buenos Aires has the very first subway in South America!
Located two blocks from AMIA guests will take a short ride (two stations) in subway line B. This station is important as it recently changed its name to Pasteur-AMIA station.
This new name is to honored the 85 victims of AMIA`s bombing in 1994. This was the biggest terrorist attempt in the Argentinean history, unfortunately is still unsolved and the Argentinean society is still looking for justice. It`s vital to keep memory alive in order to keep on searching for the truth and justice, Pasteur-AMIA subway station constitutes that space to never forget what had happened.
The subway station has 26 pieces of art, comics, murals, illustrations, photography from local artists: Miguel Rep, Sendra, Liniers, Fontanarrosa, Maitena, Langer, Rocambole, Caloi, Hermenegildo Sábat, Crist among others contributed to create a space of memory and looking for justice through their art.
Among the different creations there is a clock with the exact timing and date in which AMIA tragedy took place. Through the subway hall there is also an interpretation center which contains information about AMIA bombing.
Your local guide will point out and explain about the different murals in exhibition. Guests will board subway B for two stations, from Pasteur-Amia to Carlos Gardel station, at the entrance of Abasto shopping mall.
This mall is located in heart of Abasto neighborhood, full of tango traditions and also an important area where the local Jewish community works and lives. At the food court inside the mall guests you`ll find the only Kosher McDonald’s outside of Israel.
During the tour guests will have some free time so they can grab a quick lunch (on own basis – not included)
