DAY 1: AIRPORT-TBILISI
Transfer from TBS airport to the hotel in Tbilisi. Welcome dinner in traditional Georgian restaurant with folk performances. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 2: TBILISI-MTSKHETA-ANANURI-AKHALTSIKHE
Breakfast at the hotel and check out. After breakfast have a short Tbilisi city tour – Visit Old and new districts of Tbilisi, Narikala Fortress 4th c., Sulfur bath houses, Sharden Street neighborhood, Metekhi church 13th c. Great Synagogue-(The building, known as the Georgian Synagogue, was built from 1895 to 1903 in an eclectic style by Georgian Jews from Akhaltsikhe who migrated to Tbilisi in the late 19th century, thus the synagogue is also called “Synagogue of the people of Akhaltsikhe”), the Bridge of Peace -modern glass bridge for pedestrians. Then drive to Mtskheta – ancient capital of Georgia to visit UNESCO sites: Jvari monastery 6th c and Svetitskhoveli cathedral 11th c. Have a short excursion at Ananuri Architectural Complex 16-17th cc. The complex comprises churches, fortification and residential buildings of local Dukes. Drive south-west to Borjomi spa and explore Borjomi National Park, taste sparkling mineral water from the spring. Overnight in Akhaltsikhe.
DAY 3: AKHALTSIKHE-VARDZIA-AKHALTSIKHE
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Vardzia – cave town and fortress of 12th c which in 13th c became well defended monastery complex. The frescoes of 12th c are still well preserved. On the picturesque way following the river side visitKhertvisi fortress of 10th c. After lunch drive back to Akhaltsikhe and visit Rabati complex and museum, also Akhaltsikhe Sinagogue. Overnight in Akhaltsikhe.
DAY 4: AKHLATSIKHE-RIKOTI PASS-KUTAISI
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive over Rikoti Pass to the ancient city and former capital of West Georgia Kutaisi. Visit two UNESCO World heritage sights: Monastery complex and Academy of Gelati 12th c and Bagrati Cathedral from 11th c. Observe archaeological excavations and ruins near the sight. Overnight in Kutaisi.
DAY 5: KUTAISI-BATUMI
Breakfast at the guesthouse. First drive to Sataplia – Natural reserve and see Dinosaur footprints on the rocky slope. Karts caves, glass observation veranda, park and tourist visitor center is part of the day attraction. Also, we will seeKutaisi Sinagogue 19th century, Jewish Cemetery, Jewish Quarter. Afterwards, Drive west to Batumi, the capital of Adjara autonomous republic. We will explore unique Botanical Garden and archaeological site – Gonio Fortress. Evening leisure. Overnight in Batumi.
DAY 6: BATUMI-GORI-TBILISI
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive back east to the Capital Tbilisi. We will pass through the city of Gori and have an excursion at Stalin’s house-museum. Later we will explore cave-town Uplistsikhe – entire town with streets, churches, palaces, residential dwellings and storerooms carved into the soft stone of the mountainside in the 1st millennium BC. Evening arrive to Tbilisi. Free evening. Overnight in Tbilisi.
DAY 7: TBILISI-SIGHNAGHI-TSINANDALI-TELAVI
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to picturesque and the most fertile part of Georgia – Kakheti. First stop in Sighnaghi – old trading town with 17th c defensive wall around; then continue the way to winery in Tsinandali and taste tremendous Georgian wines. Overnight in Telavi.
DAY 8: TELAVI-DAVIT GAREJA-TBILISI
Breakfast at the guesthouse. After breakfast drive to semi desert to explore David Gareji monastery complex and caves. The classic short walk will take us through an abundance of sandstone colors and extraordinary medieval frescoes. Picnic lunch near the site. Return back to Tbilisi. Transfer to TBS airport for departure.
